The Rendezvous officially kicks off at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 14, and closes at 5:00 pm Sunday, September 16. Friday afternoon and Saturday will be devoted to the traditional workshops and demos. The World Class Bonsai Exhibit and the Marketplace will open Friday evening at 6:00pm for private viewing by convention registrants.
There will be three pre-convention workshops on Friday morning, before the official opening of the Rendezvous. Look for high quality materials in these “limited edition” workshops. It’s definitely worth coming early to participate. Details will be provided as soon as they are confirmed.
Sunday morning will see our headliners on stage together to discuss finer points of the exhibit displays. Each artist will choose a few of their favorite displays from the exhibit, then the group will provide their thoughts on what makes it one of the best.
Sunday afternoon is a new feature. Patterned after the California Shohin Convention, the big room will be filled with workshops, lectures and demos. The workshops will be small, no more than 6 participants per table. Observers can wander from table to table, watching as the raw material is started on its journey to being a bonsai.
