CONVENTION POLICIES & PROCEDURES

  • Full registration covers all three days of the convention, September 14, 15 and 16.  It includes admission to the exhibit, marketplace, headliner demos, workshop observer, the Friday Evening Mixer, Saturday Evening Banquet and Sunday morning Visions of Excellence.  Full registration includes all meals, consisting of Continental breakfast Friday, Saturday and Sunday, lunch buffet on Friday and Saturday, brunch buffet on Sunday, Friday evening buffet and Saturday evening banquet.
  • Day registration covers all day Friday OR all day Saturday.  Day registration includes admission to the exhibit, marketplace, demos, workshop observer, lunch and dinner for that day, but not breakfast.
  • Half-Day registration includes admission to the exhibit, market, demos, and workshop observer for the specific half day purchased, but no meals.
  • Workshops and critiques may be purchased individually, and are in addition to registration fees.
  • Critiques will be filled on a first come, first served basis.  If a critique is significantly over-sold, we will attempt to schedule a second critique by that artist.
  • Workshops 1 through 12 are half-day workshops available for purchase by convention registrants, either Full (3 days), Day (Friday OR Saturday) or Half-Day (morning OR afternoon sessions).
  • Workshops A through H are 1 ½ hour long events designed to give first-time convention attendees a “taste” of bonsai conventions.  While they are available to convention registrants, they may be taken without convention registration.  Individuals registering for only Workshops A through H may attend the marketplace at no extra charge.  Exhibit admittance may be purchased for an additional fee.  However, all meals, headliner demos, workshop observer, Friday evening, Saturday evening and Sunday morning events are restricted to registered guests (Full, Day or Half-Day).
  • Workshop positions will be filled in the order registrations are received with the exception of the final two positions in each event.  In any over-subscribed workshop, these final two positions will be filled by a drawing to be held on July 1, 2012.  Anyone not winning a position will be given an opportunity to participate in a different workshop based upon availability (note your alternate choice on the registration form), or will receive a full refund of the workshop fee at convention check-in.
  • Any workshop not filled by July 1, 2012 will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
  • Workshop tree selection will be based upon a numerical drawing, with the order of draw determined by the order registrations are received.  (Participants are urged to arrive early so draw may proceed smoothly)
  • Workshop reservations cancelled after August 15, 2012 will be refunded only if the workshop position can be filled.
  • Registration for any event in this convention implies acceptance of all terms and policies.  Registrants will be asked to sign a Waiver acknowledging that working with bonsai tools and equipment is a hazardous activity, and releasing The Bonsai Society of Portland, Oregon, Inc, the Pacific Northwest Bonsai Clubs Association, their respective members, and convention guest/workshop artists from all action, claims or demands resulting from participation in the workshops and other events of this convention.  Please see the Convention Registration Form for the full Waiver.
  • In an effort to enhance everyone’s convention experience and as a matter of courtesy to the artist, taking of photographs and video taping demonstrations and workshops is discouraged.  Please wait for breaks or designated "photo opportunities".  Likewise, please refrain from cell phone use and excessive conversation during demos and workshops.  We remind you that workshop observers are “silent” and should not expect to participate in discussions.
