Sequim
2004 -- Scott Tice: A slide show
from my May 1, 2004 trip to the Dungeness
Bonsai Society's annual exhibit in Sequim, Washington (the dry spot
on the peninsula).
The exhibit is every year
in conjunction with the town's Irrigation festival. Sequim is unique
on the peninsula -- it gets about 15" of rainfall annually compared to
the 150" just about an hour west in the Hoh rain forest. The Olympic
mountains hold back the precipitation in this one area. Read about
it here: www.sequim.com/about/weather.html
The exhibit is held in a
church. The show was nicely presented. Burlap sacks covered
all the tables and they have simple backdrops connected with slotted pieces
of wood, and it was well lit.
They had an information board
by the front door with some photos of the club's activities. They had a
raffle, though I didn't catch what it was for. A small area
in the front was set aside for a vendor area. Overall very nice and
enjoyable! |
